BUFFALO MOUNTAIN

Stone dark snow atop a distant peak

strikes cold within.

It reaches relentlessly downhill,

spreading a vastness

no one controls or understands.

Safe behind a windowpane

I still feel what once clung together

crumbling wall by wall

in the tiny rooms of the heart.
