found Geraldine Doyle
on a B-2 bomber assembly line,
put her on a propaganda poster
for the War Production Board
that read, “We can do it!”,
scarf knotted behind her head,
sleeves rolled up manly arms,
eyes hard with a killer’s wish,
and she became known in history
as “Rosie The Riveter.”
In 1970 during the Vietnam War
I stood next to a young woman
known in protest marches
as Sister Morningstar,
a flower girl in angel white robe,
peace lilies in her hair,
pumping high a cardboard sign,
shouting “We can do what?
WHAT?”
