Two boys on a tear

zigzag through traffic

in a downpour

in front of my sedate sedan,

laughing, leaping, hooting,

joyful, reckless

Cranky and old in a warm car,

heavy on my horn as I swerve,

I look up and see it is myself

I’ve just missed,

running wet and cold,

a rebel in the rain
