You can see in his eyes

the day they pulled the men

from cattle cars,

shot them in front of the women and children…

 

the day his mothder

scolded him, at age six,

to be mute.

 

Abraham, the boy who

saw all these things,

did not speak a word until he

came to America at age 33.

 

I lived through the Vietnam War,

saw all those things soldiers

did to the other soldiers

in front of the women and children,

did not speak a word.
Pray then, grandchildren, for me,

and little Abraham Feldesm
